Well, here I am!
If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be starting a blog, I probably would’ve laughed and asked what in the world I was supposed to write about. And yet, here we are. Funny how life works, isn’t it?
First things first, I’m Michelle. I love Jesus, my family, a good laugh, a little sarcasm, and a whole lot of Diet Pepsi. I’ve been known to talk to my television during football and college basketball games, get a little too competitive, and find humor in situations where laughing might be the only reasonable option left.
But there’s another side to my story, too.
Life hasn’t exactly gone according to plan.
I’ve experienced some beautiful blessings, but I’ve also walked through seasons I wouldn’t wish on anybody. There have been health struggles, heartbreaking losses, unexpected changes, and days when simply getting through the day felt like an accomplishment.
My life looks very different from what it once did. Some of those changes have been difficult to accept, and if I’m being completely truthful, there are still days when I struggle with them.
I won’t pretend otherwise.
But somewhere along the way, I’ve learned something important: Faith doesn’t mean life is easy. It means we have Someone to hold on to when it isn’t.
And that brings me to Under His Wings.
The name comes from one of my favorite passages of Scripture, Psalm 91. It’s a beautiful reminder of the refuge we can find in God, even when everything around us feels uncertain.
I wish I could tell you I’ve always handled life’s storms with unwavering faith and a smile on my face.
Ha! Wouldn’t that be something?
The truth is, I’ve questioned. I’ve cried. I’ve gotten frustrated. I’ve had moments of fear, anger, and wondering why things had to turn out the way they did.
And yes, I’ve occasionally had a little attitude about it all.
But through every season, God has remained faithful, even when my own faith felt shaky.
That’s what I want this little corner of the internet to be about.
Not a picture-perfect life. Not pretending everything is sunshine and roses. And certainly not acting like I have all the answers.
Just real life.
We’ll talk about faith, Scripture, and the lessons God continues to teach me. We’ll talk about grief, loss, joy, family, friendships, and finding a new purpose when life takes an unexpected turn. Because sometimes loss isn’t just about losing someone we love. Sometimes it’s about losing friendships, independence, dreams, or even the person we once knew ourselves to be.
And those losses matter, too.
But because I refuse to let everything be serious all the time, there will also be plenty of humor, a little sass, creative projects, favorite recipes, crafting, knitting, crochet, things I love, and whatever else happens to wander through my mind.
Fair warning: that could be just about anything!
Some days, I may have something encouraging to share. Other days, I may simply need to put my thoughts into words. And sometimes we might just laugh together, share a favorite recipe, or get inspired to make something creative.
I don’t know exactly where this blogging adventure will lead, but I do know why I’m starting.
Because maybe someone out there needs to hear that they’re not alone.
Maybe someone needs to know that it’s okay to love God deeply and still struggle with the circumstances of life.
And maybe, just maybe, sharing a little piece of my story will help someone else find a little hope in theirs.
So whether you came here for encouragement, Scripture, a good laugh, a new recipe, a creative idea, or just stumbled across my little corner of the internet, I’m genuinely glad you’re here.
Pull up a chair. Come sit a spell.
There’s room for all of us under His wings.
With faith, a little sass, and a whole lot of grace,
Michelle 💚
